More than two dozen mining supply and service companies from Northern Ontario will travel to Vancouver May 12-15 to take part in the 2024 convention of the Canadian Institute for Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).
Recently rebranded as CIM Connect, the annual event is alternatively held in Vancouver and Montreal, and features three days of learning opportunities, networking, professional development courses, and a tradeshow for people in the mining and mineral exploration industry.
This year’s theme is ‘Brand Canada: Our Critical Advantage.’
Located within the convention, the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase will feature 27 Northern Ontario organizations exhibiting their equipment, services, technology, and expertise to delegates from around the world.
It gives those companies an opportunity to make new connections and potential customers within the global mining industry.
CIM called the 2023 edition a “landmark event,” with 6,883 participants attending, 702 booths, 320 presentations, and 60 countries represented.
The CIM delegation is a cousin to a larger contingent that travels to attend the Prospectors and Developers of Canada (PDAC) convention in Toronto every year.
That version of the Showcase, which was held March 3-6, includes 112 mining supply and service companies from the North.
The Northern Ontario Mining Showcase is an initiative of the City of Temiskaming Shores, with funding provided from FedNor.
